When isn’t it a good time for a chai latte? I love the spicy, sweet, and creamy experience of this Four Sigmatic Chai Latte with Reishi and Turkey Tail. It’s an added bonus that it has ingredients you’d never find at your local coffee house. They’ve added 300mg of Reishi spore powder and 200mg of Turkey Tail mushroom powder for long-term stress support. The Turkey Tail and Reishi won’t result in an instantaneous relaxed state on their own. These adaptogens do have the potential to help with stress and sleep quality over long-term use. Being caffeine-free, it’s a great alternative to a coffee that would leave you feeling anything but relaxed. 

This mushroom-infused latte is caffeine-free and packed with quality USDA-certified organic ingredients with only 2g of sugar. While it does contain coconut milk powder for added creaminess, I’m a fan of mixing it with warm plant-based milk for a truly creamy latte. At a price of about $2 a drink, it’s a bit more than you’d expect for a coffee at home. Well, this isn’t a coffee, for starters. That can be confusing. And to make matters even more confusing, we like to also point out that it contains no caffeine. Between the “latte” and the “no caffeine” there’s a lot of coffee references for a drink that is not a coffee. But that’s what makes this a great coffee alternative. It gives you that fun coffee ritual, but with an added boost of immune-boosting functional mushrooms.

Does this Four Sigmatic Chai Latte with Reishi and Turkey Tail taste like mushrooms?

No. You may think that before you try it since it’s infused with Reishi and Turkey Tail. But it doesn’t!

Does this Use Fruiting Bodies or Mycelium? 

Four Sigmatic always uses the fruiting bodies of their superfood mushrooms in all their products. If you’re to medicinal mushrooms, you always want to make sure your products are from the fruiting part of the mushroom (which is mostly the part that’s above ground) instead of the mycelium (which is mostly the roots.) The fruiting body is where a majority of the antioxidants and good aspects of functional mushrooms exist.

We always recommend sticking to one mug per day to start. Give yourself some time to acclimate to this new beverage and then increase the amount you drink over time.

HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE TO BECOME EFFECTIVE?

Honestly, who’s to say? Mushroom-infused teas and coffee alternatives won’t make you feel completely different after a few sips. Adaptogens and the like are most effective over time. This isn’t a pill or a drug. Think of this as the benefits you get from consuming tea.
