A gentleman named William Siff founded Goldthread a couple decades ago. He was a big fan of plants (who isn’t?) and he owned an actual apothecary back in the early 2000s. And we are total suckers for anything “apothecary.”

But seriously, Goldthread was borne of good intentions by someone who knows and cares about plant medicine. And they source their ingredients from local farmers around the world. It’s formulated to help you detox and support better digestion. And maybe even feel a little less stressed. The company and the brand get The Greenest stamp of approval.

OK, ENOUGH BACKSTORY, WHAT ABOUT THE PRODUCT?

You want sugar-free? You got it. What about non-GMO? You got that, too. How about vegan? You’re welcome. Kosher? Mavel tov. You want USDA-Certified organic? Well, you’ll have to deal with organic farming practices. And before you get out your free-range pitchforks, the reason they aren’t USDA-certified is because they use a lot of small farmers who can’t afford the certification. It’s like when you go to your local farmer’s market. Few of those farmer’s are actually certified, but they go out of their way to use organic practices. This is actually a good thing.

And when it comes to the actual ingredients, this Turmeric Radiance is chocked full of herbs and spices that make you feel all warm inside. You’ve got turmeric (duh) as well as things like cardamom, cinnamon and lemon peel, just to name a few. And they claim it can help with inflammation, help boost energy and help support digestion. Since we’re not doctors, we can’t confirm or deny that. But we do know our bodies like it when we give them natural occurring plants instead of manufactured high fructose corn syrup and sugar.

What About the Taste ?

We never like talking about what something tastes like. You like what you like and we like what we like. And we can all live in harmony together. However, we do like the taste. But we like the taste of turmeric. If you don’t like the taste of turmeric, you may want to try one of their other flavors. It’s not super spicy but it’s also not bland. And if you like the taste of bland, then we suggest asking yourself why you hate life.

Monk fruit. We’ve never heard of monk fruit before having this Goldthread Tonics Turmeric Radiance. We had heard of monkfish, but we’re super glad they didn’t decide to use that as the sweetener.

All the herbs and spices in this tonic are GRAS. Which means the FDA says they are Generally Recognized As Safe. So there should be no issues. This, like the taste, is hard to say. We’re all different. But these tonics aren’t pharmaceuticals. We look at plant-based tonics are like vitamins, minerals and other supplements.
