Diamond CBD: Would We Recommend it to a Friend?

Diamond CBD would we recommend is it legit

We have some questions when it comes to the Diamond CBD and their brand. To be fair, they are pretty popular. Over 10,000 people perform Google searches for their products each month. Which is quite a bit in the CBD space. But while they seem to have a large following, they also have a history of issues around safety and quality of their products. CBD has enough stigma around it. It’s still a relatively new space. In addition to the issues of stigma, CBD itself is still in the early days of research around its benefits and potential risks. So the industry needs their brands to be as transparent and clear about their sourcing and testing as possible. And we don’t think Diamond is one of those brands (at least, today.)

A quick company overview on Diamond CBD

Established in 2015, Diamond CBD is a well-known CBD company based in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Diamond CBD owns over 14 brands. And they have a massive range of products. They have arguably one of the most extensive product ranges available.

The company claims to be made up of a team of scientists, doctors, and researchers. All of whom are working on producing safe, quality CBD products using non-GMO hemp extract. It has celebrity partnerships with actor and cannabis activist Tommy Chong and NFL player Lawrence Taylor.

What products do they make?

As we mentioned, Diamond CBD has one of the largest ranges of CBD products. Because of that, they truly have nearly every type of CBD product you can think of. Is that good? Well…

Their product range includes:

  • CBD oils
  • Gummies and other types of edibles
  • Creams
  • Vapes
  • Dabs
  • Bath bombs
  • Capsules
  • Beverages
  • Skincare products
  • Smokeables
  • Pet products

All of these products come in various flavors and strengths. They also offer all products in CBD isolate, broad-spectrum and full-spectrum forms.

What is the quality of Diamond CBD products?

Diamond CBD claims that all its products are non-GMO and made from the best quality organic hemp, sourced from Scandinavia, Kentucky, and Colorado. These regions are well known for having high-quality hemp, especially Scandinavia as the subregion has high agricultural standards in place. All their products are third-party lab tested. Their certificates of analysis (COAs) for each product are available to view on their website.

They use supercritical CO2 extraction to extract CBD, which is considered one of the safest ways to do so, avoiding harsh chemicals.

Do they make safe products?

Diamond CBD’s reputation, when it comes to safety, is not great. They have been criticized for not including heavy metal, residual solvent, and pesticide testing in its third-party testing. Therefore, there is no way to deduct whether their products contain these chemicals, something that is important to CBD users.

The company was caught up in controversy in 2018 when customers reported feeling high after using their products. The Virginia Commonwealth University conducted a test which found some undesirable chemicals in some of the products, including dextromethorphan (DXM). DXM is most commonly known as a cough suppressant. It’s found in many cough medicines. It’s also a synthetic cannabinoid called 5F-ADB, an illegal compound designed by scientists to mimic the effects of THC. The explains why people could have felt high. But it’s also not good.

The company’s CEO, Kevin Hagan, told Consumer Reports that this had to do with an old formula. He also stated that none of their current products contain these compounds. He committed to retesting and recalling their products if they didn’t meet their standards.

Where do they source their CBD?

Diamond CBD uses hemp sourced from farms located in Scandinavia, Kentucky, and Colorado. Scandinavia? Yes, that’s right, Scandinavia.

What is their brand all about?

Diamond CBD’s brand message is all about them being a pioneering CBD company. They claim to be leading the industry in terms of CBD medical and scientific research. Their website states that they use a team of medical researchers and scientists to create and test their products. They say they have invested in CBD innovation and are up-to-date with new research. Diamond CBD pride themselves on offering as many product varieties as possible, hoping to meet the specific needs of their customers.

They are also passionate about sustainability, according to their website. While Diamond offer some eco-friendly products, they claim to grow and craft help products in a way that leaves the environment better than it was before.

What are people on the web saying about them?

People have mixed feelings online about Diamond CBD. Many people appreciate the wide range of their products while others find the number of products too overwhelming. And while they have some positive reviews, there is still a few questions around their testing controversy in 2018.

There are some positive reviews, though. Philly Mag rated Diamond CBD the best CBD brand for product variety in 2021.

On the other hand, Daily CBD found that “the size of Diamond CBD’s selection can also make it somewhat difficult to actually make a decision. There are simply too many options — and frankly, it’s a little overwhelming.” Ultimately they were unable to recommend Diamond CBD due to a lack of trust since the controversial tests came out in 2018, and due to the fact that their COAs don’t test for heavy metals, residual solvents and pesticides.

Americanmarijuana.org listed the availability of CBD dabs as a brand pro, stating, “This is a product you don’t always get to see among CBD manufacturers. The dabs are really potent.” What they listed as a con is the variety of products that could be tiring to scroll through on their website. However, they mention that using the filters is helpful to find the specific product.

The company’s safety standards did not impress a reviewer at The CBD Oil Review. “We did not find one current CoA as most were over a year old. Additionally, we could not find multiple contaminants tests. Most of the outdated documents they posted only tested for synthetics and listed the cannabinoid profiles.”

Would we recommend Diamond CBD to a friend?

No. Life is too short to try questionable CBD products. Especially with all the high quality products that are on the market now. Overall, Diamond CBD is a CBD brand with an impressive range of products. It’s a company that strives to offer whatever strength, delivery method, and flavor that anyone could want. However, the alarming results from the 2018 study have consumers feeling rightly skeptical about the safety of their products and the accuracy of their labels and ingredients.  We kind of think of them as the gas station sushi of CBD products.

For it to live up to all of its safety and quality claims, the company should provide more comprehensive COAs (that test for heavy metals, residual solvents, and pesticides). There should also be concrete proof of the guarantee that their products are made from pure and natural cannabinoids.
