Cannabidiol, more commonly known as CBD, is being embraced by people everywhere for its many health and wellness benefits. But while many people may be interested in these benefits, they may be worried that they’ll need to smoke something in order to consume CBD. But there are many different ways to consume CBD that do not involve smoking.
Here are the seven most popular ways you can consume CBD.
1. CBD Oil Drops
Using a dropper, users can apply a few drops under their tongue to experience the effects of the oil drops. You can even mix the drops with coconut oil or other types of flavoring to make them taste better. CBD oils drops generally take about 20 to 40 minutes to begin feeling the effects.
2. CBD Edibles
Edibles are of course a very popular way to consume CBD. After all, what’s better than simply putting this healthy additive to your favorite foods? Whether it’s baked goods, coffee, teas, you can add CBD to anything you imagine. Edibles will take a little longer before the effects are felt since they must be digested first, usually taking up to two hours.
3. CBD Topicals
Lotions and creams infused with CBD are a very popular way to consume it. This method is also very effective for helping treat sore muscles, joint pain and inflammation as these products can interact with the endocannabinoid receptors found under the skin. Topicals do take a little longer to take effect, usually around one hour.
4. CBD Patches
Similar to topicals, CBD patches work by simply sticking them onto the skin, where it interacts with those same endocannabinoid receptors. These patches can usually last for an extended period of around four to six hours. They will also provide a steady and controlled amount of CBD into a person’s system. These patches also have the benefit of being discreet, if that’s important to a user.
5. CBD Capsules
Some stores that sell CBD products will provide it in capsule form. Using these capsules provides an accurate, specific dose which may not be the case when using some of the other forms on this list. Like edibles, these will take a longer time to take effect as they must be digested.
6. CBD Smoking or Vaping
Inhalation is probably the most popular way people consume CBD. If you’re not worried about smoking or vaping, these methods are the quickest for the effects to begin kicking in. But the tradeoff for that is it’s also the method that lasts the shortest as well. CBD levels will peak about 10 minutes after inhalation.
7. CBD Infused Beverages
While technically an “edible.” CBD infused beverages are growing in popularity. It’s in everything from standard water, to flavored sparkling waters or even beers. The beauty of having a product with little to no flavor means it can be added to almost anything. The effect usually takes 15-30 minutes for most CBD beverages, but normally doesn’t last as long as edibles.
