Are you looking for immune support, a healthy gut, and to keep inflammation away? Four Sigmatic has outdone themselves with their version of a golden latte. They’ve packed 900mg of turmeric in, which is within the range that is thought to decrease inflammation and improve gut health. They’ve also included black pepper. This extra spice is essential to actually absorb the anti-inflammatory compounds from the turmeric. This Four Sigmatic Golden Latte with Turkey Tail has 500mg of turkey tail mushrooms, which are full of antioxidants and potential immune boosting properties. And don’t forget about the Holy Basil, a relaxing adaptogen, that snuck in there, too. 

While the price is steep at $2 a cup, the ingredient list is worth it. This golden latte mix is organic, vegan, gluten free, and contains less than 1g of sugar per serving. Four Sigmatic has all of their products third party tested and are known for using and producing quality products. They also use only frutiing bodies for all their mushroom extracts. WHAT IS THIS PRODUCT?

This is a golden latte from Finnish company Four Sigmatic that’s infused with Turkey Tail, an adaptogenic superfood and medicinal mushroom. What’s a Golden Latte? Well, it’s not a coffee, for starters. It’s an Ayurvedic-inspired recipe that is a tasty way to get a big dose of turmeric. Why turmeric? If you’ve ever read the book Blue Zones, which looks at cultural pockets around the world where people live to 100 at an insanely high rate, you’ll see that turmeric is one of the common threads of their diets. There’s not a ton of clinical research around the benefits of turmeric. But we’re hoping that changes soon.

Does this Four Sigmatic Golden Latte with Turkey Tail Use Fruiting Bodies or Mycelium? 

All Four Sigmatic products use fruiting bodies. If you’re new to medicinal mushrooms you may be asking “what the heck are fruiting bodies.” We’re glad you asked! Fruiting bodies are the top of the mushroom. Or the part that’s mostly above ground. This has the most adaptogens and antioxidants. Essentially, it’s the best part of the mushroom. While mycelium is the root and contains fewer of the medicinal mushroom goodies.

HOW MUCH FUNCTIONAL MUSHROOMS AND ADAPTOGENS ARE IN THIS PRODUCT?

There’s 500mg of Turkey Tail in this little guy. Between that and the 900mgs of turmeric this is not kidding around with its ingredients. We mentioned earlier that this is a tad on the pricier side, but you are getting the full dose of Turkey Tail and turmeric.

WILL THIS Four Sigmatic Golden Latte with Turkey Tail GET YOU HIGH?

Not at all. Unless turmeric gets you super excited. While Turkey Tail is a medicinal (or sometimes referred to as a “functional mushroom”), it is not a “magic” mushroom. You can eat these just like you eat a shiitake or button mushroom from your local store. And no, they won’t get you high.

HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE TO BECOME EFFECTIVE?

This is where things get tricky. Everyone wants a supplement to make them feel superhuman 15 minutes after consuming it. And sadly, that’s just jot the case. But work these immune-supporting mushrooms into your diet and they’ll do their job over time. This isn’t like a Tylenol. It’s a lifestyle.

IS THIS Four Sigmatic Golden Latte with Turkey Tail LEGAL?

It’s sad we even have to ask this question. That would be a “yes.” Totally and completely. Turkey Tail is a regular mushroom.

IS THIS PRODUCT TESTED AND CERTIFIED?

Four Sigmatic is adamant about rigorous testing of all their products. We don’t have access to their lab results (like most CBD companies make public). But we are going to give them benefit of the doubt due to their great reputation and track record. They GMP (good manufacturing process) board regularly audits their facilities. And did we mention they’re also USDA-certified organic? (Yeah, we know we did.)
