THE GREENEST SAYS:

OK, where do we start here. Let’s talk about what we like about Earth & Star Medicinal Mushroom Cold Brew. First things first, this is a nice, powerful 2000mg dose of medicinal mushroom extract in this little can. So that’s a nice little way to start. Second, Earth & Star use fruiting bodies, so it’s the real deal mushrooms. If you’re new to adaptogens, fruiting bodies are the parts that you see — the toadstools, if you will. Some brands will sell infuse mycelium, which is basically just the root. Still technically a mushroom, but not the primo good stuff. Third this is a vegan, organic-ish product (they aren’t USDA-certified organic, but they do claim to use organic practices).

OK, we’re done with the numbering thing and just going to point out a few other things we like. It contains no sugar. They’ve got the big boys of the mushroom world in Lion’s Mane, Reishi, Chaga and Cordyceps. So you get that nice little entourage effect with a little side dose of L-Theanine to keep you from getting those classic coffee jitters. So all that is great. But if we were going to pick a little nit (all reviewers are nit pickers, after all), we’d like a little more info on where they source their coffee. And we’d really like some more information around their testing and lab results. But other than that, we’re fans.

WHAT IS THIS PRODUCT?

It’s a cold brew coffee that’s infused with four different medicinal mushrooms. You drink it just like you would a coffee. That is, if you drink coffee. If you don’t drink coffee, just imagine how someone would drink a coffee. It’s like that.

WHO IS THIS Earth & Star Medicinal Mushroom Cold Brew FOR?

Anyone who likes the taste of coffee (this doesn’t taste like mushrooms). The growing research around adaptogens shows that beverages infused with these wonderful little extracts can help support your immune system, focus and even eyesight. Would you call them “superfoods?” Some people would. So if you like the taste, why wouldn’t you try this.

HOW MUCH Medicinal MUSHROOMS AND ADAPTOGENS ARE IN THIS PRODUCT?

As we mentioned up top, this Earth and Star Medicinal Mushroom Cold Brew coffee has 2000mgs of medicinal mushroom extracts per bottle. As well as 90mgs of caffeine, which is basically about the same as a cup of coffee.

WILL THIS GET YOU HIGH?

No. And we hope everyone reads this part. Medicinal mushrooms are often confused with those mushrooms that your dad’s friend in college used to talk about a lot. These are not psychedelic mushrooms. Lion’s mane, Chaga, Reishi and Cordyceps are basically better versions of the same mushrooms you buy at the grocery store. Or put on your pizza. Unless you’re our dad’s friend from college. But all jokes aside, these have zero psychedelic or psychoactive effects.

HOW MUCH Earth & Star Medicinal Mushroom Cold Brew SHOULD YOU DRINK?

Drink one and see how you feel.

HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE TO BECOME EFFECTIVE?

Everyone is different. And similar to everything from CBD to fish oil pills, it can feel like it’s taking effect quickly, or it can take a week or two. As we always like to point out, there’s a reason why there aren’t one-day clinical trials for anything. Have a little patience, grasshopper.

IS THIS PRODUCT TESTED AND CERTIFIED?

We don’t see anything about testing. We’d love to see them change that as they grow.
