The Greenest Says:

Papa and Barkley’s Releaf Repair Cream offers the first Hemp Rosin product I’ve seen. Fresh-pressed Hemp Rosin, that is. Not only does that mean that this cream is whole-plant, but it also makes it full-spectrum for maximum efficiency. Also, the rosin pressing aspect keeps any harmful solvents out of the product. Most companies use CO2 to distill their cannabinoids, but as safe as it sounds, CO2 is still a solvent at the end of the day. A few synthetic ingredients, but all in all, this product is worth a try, to say the least. Especially given Papa & Barkley‘s great reputation. – Willy Christie

What is this Papa & Barkley Releaf Repair Cream?

Papa & Barkley’s Releaf Repair Cream is a full-spectrum hemp CBD topical designed for the face and neck. But no one will call the cops if you put it on your elbows. (At least we won’t. We can’t vouch for your nosy neighbors.)

It helps repair and hydrate skin. The cream is also contains the moisturizing agents squalane and Jojoba oil to enhance its benefits. If we’re being honest, we hadn’t even heard of “squalene” before reading this label. It’s a lipid that helps lubricate and protect your skin. See, now we’re all learning!

How Much CBD is in it?

The 30 ml bottle contains 450 mg of CBD and other cannabinoids. Since this is full-spectrum hemp CBD, it has all the fun cannabinoids to keep your endocannabinoid system in homeostasis. When we say cannabinoids we are referring to CBG, CBN and yes, even THC. But don’t worry, there’s such a small amount of THC (less than 0.3%) that it shouldn’t get you high (see the next section.)

And for a little context, this is a little pricier than some of the other CBD products on the market. But we will say that Papa & Barkley is a really solid brand with a great reputation. And we all know that you usually get what you pay for.

Will This Papa & Barkley Releaf Repair Cream Get You High?

No. While the topical does contain trace amounts of THC, it is not enough to produce psychoactive effects or a high. Plus, creams don’t enter your blood system the way edibles and capsules do. If THC makes you nervous, you really have nothing to worry about here. Now, if you decided to eat a whole bucket of this, then we have no idea how you’d feel. But we’re guessing more nauseas than high. (Please don’t eat a bucket of this.)

How Much Releaf Repair Cream Should You Apply?

Papa & Barkley suggest a serving size of one pump from the bottle, which is approximately one tsp. But let’s be honest, you can ballpark it. One thing we do like to say is try doing a little spot test first. We recommend this to anyone trying a new topical (CBD-infused or not.) Put a tiny amount on a tiny part of your skin and wait a few hours to see if you have a reaction. Most likely you won’t. If your skin is all good, then feel free to use as desired. As long as desired means the recommended dosage.

How Long Will it Take to be Effective?

Topicals usually take 10 to 15 minutes to take effect, and usually peak at 90 minutes. But, and this is a big but, that’s usually for the non-CBD ingredients. We always want to point out to consumers that CBD takes a little while to do its magic. Our doctor Neil Shah likes to point out how there are no one-day CBD trials. What he means is: CBD doesn’t immediately take effect. Your endocannabinoid system takes a little time to kick in. So have a little patience and you’ll be good to go.

One other note, the FDA hasn’t come out and said CBD can help much of anything. But we have heard a lot of anecdotes of how it helps people. So while we can’t say for sure it will be effective for your ailment, we do think it may be worth trying if other topicals haven’t made you super happy.

Yes. While it does contain trace amounts of THC, it contains less than 0.3% which means it’s legal in all 50 states. That’s thanks to the 2018 Farm Bill. We don’t often get to thank congress, but in this case we are glad they did pass that bill. Now if they could pass a few more when it comes to CBD and THC, that would be great. And while we’re asking, there’s actually a lot of other stuff we’d like them to do. But since this is a CBD product review and not a political message board, we’ll stop here.

Is This Product Tested and Certified?

Yes. Papa & Barkley triple tests all of their products. First they do so to ensure the quality of the hemp flower, then again after they’ve infused the oil and then a final third time. The testing results for this product can be found on their website. We love seeing brands make their lab tests public. It shows us they are confident and transparent in their products. On the other hand, we give a side eye to any brand that doesn’t make their lab results public. And no one wants the Greenest side eye.
