The CBD market is saturated, to say the least. So many fly-by-night companies looking to make a quick buck regardless of their prior experience with cannabis. Even some of those with the best intentions end up putting out an inferior product out of ignorance, or corner-cutting. But the rare ones are the companies that have proven time and time again that they not only have the experience and knowledge to make the right decisions, but they also have the integrity to center their product line and ethos around those ethical decisions. One of these outstanding companies is Papa & Barkley. But which products are the best? Here’s a breakdown of my five favorite Papa & Barkley products.
If you’ve read any of my other reviews on their CBD line, you’ll know that I’m consistently impressed with their attention to detail. Not to mention prioritizing the consumer first, no matter the cost. They obviously care for the cannabis plant as well as every single consumer. I’ve been a budtender for years, so I can assure you that this is not always the case.
For the record, I am not getting paid, courted, or donated to in ANY way by Papa & Barkley.
Without further ado, let’s get to my 5 favorite Papa & Barkley products:
1. Papa & Barkley Releaf Balm
This is the first product I ever tried from Papa & Barkley, and I’m pleased to say it still feels and smells exactly the same 5 years later. “It’s what made us famous” they say on the website, and I couldn’t agree more. A beautiful jar, and a clean and effective product inside.
Why we like it: Chemical and solvent-free is the way to be. I also think it smells great. (To be fair, I’m a little more on the potpourri side of the spectrum.) They’re also a trustworthy brand that I’ve been aware of for almost 5 years now.
What it’s used for: Occasional and every day discomfort, menstrual cramps and discomfort, and post-workout recovery.
Pros: Top of the line in terms of cannabis quality and effectiveness, leading to the most “full-spectrum” extraction process I’ve seen. This is largely due to their whole plant infusion process. Wait, did I mention I like the smell? The added ingredients all provide beneficial effects, like cooling, and moisturization.
Cons: This product contains beeswax, which takes it out of the vegan realm. The price can be a little high for some consumers.
2. Papa & Barkley Releaf Drops
If I had my way, I would make all of the CBD oil for my friends and family. But I don’t have that kind of time or those resources. One thing I can promise you, is that I wouldn’t use any solvents or chemicals to make a natural herbal supplement to give to my grandparents! That’s why Papa & Barkley Releaf drops get my seal of approval
Why we like it: An affordable CBD oil that is made with some of the best ingredients available. Backed by years of experience on both the medical cannabis market as well as the federally legal CBD market.
What it’s used for: Stress and relaxation, falling and staying asleep, and mental focus and clarity.
Pros: Very affordable, considering the level of quality and care we’re working with here. No chemicals or solvents. 30 day free returns as well.
Cons: Not the cheapest option for someone just starting to get into the various types of CBD.

3. Papa & Barkley Releaf Capsules
With Papa & Barkley Releaf Capsules, we have the same active ingredients as the Releaf Drops, just put into a pre-dosed vegan capsule. Capsules are a lot more palatable for those that are just beginning their CBD regimen, and are more used to the idea of capsules or pills. Some may prefer capsules out of convenience and portability as well.
Why we like it: The same CBD Oil we know and love from the Releaf Drops, in a convenient and vegan capsule.
What it’s used for: Stress and relaxation, falling and staying asleep, and mental focus and clarity. It’s basically the same as the drops, just without the potential for spilling, or improper dosage.
Pros: Again, very affordable for the quality and care. No chemicals or solvents. Vegan capsules.
Cons: The only con I can think of is the price, but I still think it’s worth every penny.
4. Papa & Barkley Releaf Body Oil
Sometimes you have a spot or two of discomfort, and sometimes your entire back goes out. Papa & Barkley Releaf Body Oil is for those moments where you have to cover a lot of skin. It’s just like the Releaf Balm, but the addition of Jojoba and Vitamin E oil make this great for massage and skin care.
Why we like it: The same CBD Oil we know and love from the Releaf Drops, and Releaf Balm. But instead of a slow application like the balm, the Body Oil is ready to go on your skin at a moment’s notice.
What it’s used for: Everyday discomfort, Post-workout recovery
Pros: Simple and clean. Have you used Jojoba Oil before? A perfect combination with the Vitamin E oil, and let’s not forget the whole-plant full-spectrum cannabis extract.
Cons: It’s very very similar to the Releaf Balm, but more expensive.
5. Papa & Barkley Releaf Body Lotion
It’s crazy to me that cannabis not only soothes sore muscles and can potentially help with pain, but even helps reduce inflammation. Have you ever had dry or cracked skin on your hands? Some lotions make it worse with their questionable ingredients and fragrances. And just like Papa & Barkley’s goal with cannabis, the lotion itself is clean and safe and simple. Perfect for winter months, or seasons of extended dryness. I would keep a bottle of this on me at all times.
Why we like it: I use lotion when my skin is already dry and irritated. Clean and safe ingredients mixed with the anti-inflammatory effects of CBD, made with my favorite P&B proprietary method? Yes please.
What it’s used for: Healthy aging, redness reduction, and skin hydration.
Pros: For me, it’s what I need in any lotion I’m going to put money into. A simple and natural lotion, combined with CBD.
Cons: I wouldn’t necessarily need this product, and I’d be afraid my guests would use it as normal lotion!
My Favorite Papa & Barkley Products – In Conclusion
Honestly, Papa & Barkley has a pretty simple formula. Use clean cannabis grown with the consumer in mind, and extract it in the gentlest way that respects the whole plant. Just like any Cannabis Cookbook comes down to “take weed butter and add to x.” That’s why it’s not hard to make a list of my favorite Papa & Barkley products. But P&B could just keep adding their proprietary CBD extract to basically any type of product and I would be down to not only try it, but recommend it to my strangers and loved ones.
