How Much CBD Should You Take?

If you’re interested in CBD and researching how to start, you’ll likely wonder how large of doses you should begin taking. And the answer is a little complicated.

First, you should know that taking a large dose of CBD does not present any health risks to users. Researchers have given users up to 1,500 milligrams of CBD in a day and they experienced no negative side effects. And since CBD is non-psychoactive, you will not get high off it unlike THC.

Hemp CBD Isolates and have zero THC, so you would never get high no matter how much you took. Legal full spectrum hemp CBD products can contain no more than .3% of THC. Which is such a small amount that you won’t get high no matter how much you take (assuming you don’t drink a swimming pool full of CBD.)

If you’re relatively new to CBD, experts say between 20 and 40 milligrams  per day is a good place to start. As you begin taking more and more, you can slowly begin increasing your daily doses. You can also change your dose depending on how you’re feeling. If you’re in more pain or more anxious than usual, perhaps a higher dose would be better.

Wondering how many individual doses you should take in one day? 5 milligrams is a standard amount in a drop or capsule. And a great place to start for newbies. We always recommend purchasing products that come in 5 milligram doses to start. And then you can always work your way up from there.

You should also take body weight into consideration as well. 20 milligrams may be a perfectly fine dose for a smaller person. But a bigger person won’t necessarily feel the effects as much. So a larger person may want to take a larger dose to feel the same effects.

Likewise, you’ll want to consider how you’re consuming. For instance, taking it through an edible will take a longer amount of time before your body starts feeling the effects. So a larger dose may be required. But if you use CBD drops under your tongue, those can be felt quickly so a lower dose may only be needed.

As you take more and more CBD, you may find your tolerance may increase so a smaller dose won’t have as much effect as it once did. So, you’ll likely need to up your dosage slightly. But as we mentioned before, this isn’t a problem since CBD can typically be consumed at very high dosages without significant side effects.
